Polyolefin Foam

Polyolefin Foams are a relatively recent development compared to the other types of foam. The Polyolefin foam processes were developed in the 1960s and 1970s. Polyolefin foam is an extruded, coalesced foam strand propylene polymer material that is either open-celled and useful for sound insulation applications or close-celled and useful for thermal insulation applications. A polyolefin is a polymer produced from a simple olefin, or alkene as a monomer. For example, polyethylene is the polyolefin produced by polymerizing the olefin ethylene.
