Epoxy system for use with wood and fiberglass construction and repairs.

Caution!
Vapors harmful. Keep out of reach of children.

Fiberglass Hawaii 5:1 Epoxy is an excellent wood bonding/laminating resin system. It uses range from a high strength wood glue to a medium viscosity laminating resin. Two hardeners are available: Fast 12-15 minute pot life and Slow 20-25 minute pot life @ 75° F. Fiberglass Hawaii 5:1 Epoxy can be used on wood, fiberglass, polystyrene, polyurethane and PVC foams.

Preparation

Surface must be sanded and clean, dry and free of oil-based paint, oil, wax, dust and other contaminants. Do not wipe with tack cloth.

Mixing

Measure (5) five parts of part A Epoxy resin and (1) part of part B Hardener. Combine the two quantities and mix thoroughly for at least 2 minutes stirring from the bottom of the container to the top. When using large amount of epoxy system, longer mixing is necessary.

Coverage

On soft wood approximately 250 square feet per gallon. On 10 oz fiberglass cloth approximately 100 square feet per gallon.

Application

The techniques involved with using epoxy resin systems are the same as are used with any resin system. The material may be applied with a brush, roller, or squeegee. Spraying is not recommended.

Curing Time

Best results will be achieved @ 75°F. Colder temperatures will cause resin to be thicker and cure slower. Fast hardener will dry to touch in 2 hours, full cure in 7-10 days @ 75°F. Slow hardener will dry to touch in 3 hours, full cure in 7-10 days @ 75°F.

Painting

Surface must be sanded thoroughly prior to paint. Epoxy-compatible paints must be used. Surfaces exposed to sunlight must be protected from degradation by ultra violet light.

Cleanup

Use Fiberglass Hawaii Acetone for clean up of tools and equipment. Wash hands thoroughly after use with soap and water only.

Uses

Applying fiberglass cloth to surfboards, most woods, and fiberglass surfaces where clear or transparent laminates are a requirement

Keep out of reach of children
Avoid breathing vapors and contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Hands or other skin areas coming in contact with epoxy should be washed thoroughly with soap and water. Rubber gloves and eye protection should be worn when handling.
